Looking for fun, cheap social distancing-friendly outdoor activities to do with the kids or a group of mates this summer?
Treasure Trails are themed self-guided walking trail booklets (£9.99 each) providing discovery fun for all ages, all over Britain.
Suitable for small groups, the trails are a budget-friendly way to explore landmarks and quirky corners of villages, towns and cities in a new way. Discover something new without leaving your hometown, or go further afield.
Lasting around two hours, the aim of each Treasure Trail is to solve clues on a circular route of approximately two miles. The trails are designed to appeal to anyone with a sense of adventure, from young detectives and budding spies to adults alike. Kids love cracking clues along the routes to unlock incredible stories from the past, and solve the mystery at the end.
It's also a great way to add a boost of exercise into the day and get your steps up!
This summer, Treasure Trails is partnering with the British Heart Foundation to help fight heart and circulatory disease, and will be donating £5,000 of proceeds each month to the charity.
There are 1,200 Treasure Trails around the Britain to explore and three themes of trail to choose from: Treasure Hunt, Spy Mission or Murder Mystery. There are trails in multiple destinations across Wales, Scotland, the South West, South East, East of England, East Midlands, West Midlands, Yorkshire, North West, North East, and Northern Ireland.
The trails include the likes of 'Whitby – Curse of the Vampire', 'Lion Hunting in Stoke Newington', and 'Pendle Witches'.
The newest trail is 'Wizards of Watford', which lets wannabe wizards conjure up answers to hidden clues to complete their mystical quest. The trail complements the Watford-based Leavesden Studios, where the Harry Potter films were produced at Warner Bros. Studios Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter.
The Treasure Trails are close to cafés, shops and restaurants, so adventurers can take their time solving the clues and enjoy food and drink breaks en route, or pack a picnic.

The trail booklets are available to buy online and download to print at home, or can be sent via post within 3-5 working days. The kids can even get creative and add their own photo and text to the front cover using the website's online editing tool.

Treasure Trails Covid-19 Code of Conduct:
Treasure Trails are ideally suited for everyone to re-discover what's around them in a fun and responsible way.
- Follow social distancing rules at all times. Be prepared to skip a clue if social distancing is not possible.
- If planning a trail with people outside your household group, make sure you are still following the latest guidelines for England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland on how many other people you can meet up with outdoors.
- Avoid touching any hard surfaces such as plaques, signs, information boards, gates, walls or benches that clues may be based on.
- Don't linger for too long – if you need to, take a photo of a plaque or sign and move to a quieter area.
- Respect others – remember that there are many vulnerable people who still need to self-isolate. While walking, keep a safe distance from residential homes, schools and other premises.
