Why not give your children a back-to-school treat with a fun adventure for all the family to enjoy?
Keep the education coming by choosing a local Treasure Trail and learning more about your home city, town or village.
The Trails, designed for children aged six and upwards, are typically two miles long and involve one of three different adventures – a spy mission, detective mystery or treasure hunt.
The Trail booklets are available to buy online and download to print at home or can be sent via post within three to five working days.
With a premium, Personalised Trail, the kids can even get creative and add their own photo and text to the front cover using the website's online editing tool.
Costing just £9.99, each guided booklet is a fantastic way to get active whilst enjoying the great outdoors and using a bit of your grey matter.
Trails are close to cafés, shops and restaurants, so adventurers can take their time solving the clues and enjoy food and drink breaks or pack a picnic.
Visit treasuretrails.co.uk for a full list of locations and Trails by region. Some are suitable for driving and cycling, whilst suitability and the estimated time of each Trail are explained on the website.
Here are our Top 5 Family Favourite Trails:
1, Evesham - The Best Bits! (Worcestershire) – Treasure Hunt. The Trail starts and finishes close to the Tourist Information office and takes in the beautiful historic buildings of Evesham. The route also leads you to the riverside with its many attractions to suit all the family.
2, Harrogate Pirates in Valley Gardens (Yorkshire) – Treasure Hunt. This picture-clue only Trail, designed for our younger Trailers, starts at the town centre end of Valley Gardens, at the main gates opposite the Royal Pump Room Museum. The route keeps within the boundaries of these wonderfully varied gardens throughout, finishing near the cafe.
3, Spooky Newquay (Cornwall) – Treasure Hunt. This mission will have you roaming around the spooky sites in Newquay, from the Barrowfields to Trenance Gardens, exploring hidden gems and uncovering twisting tales along the way.
4, Lyndhurst Forest and Footpaths (Hampshire) – Spy Mission. This circular Trail starts at the car park close to the Forest Lodge Hotel on the outskirts of the town. Lyndhurst was the home of Alice Liddle, the inspiration of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, and she is buried in the churchyard here. It explores part of the forest along the footpaths and also the town of Lyndhurst.
5, Staithes – The Mermaid's Curse (North Yorkshire) – Treasure Hunt. The Trail starts and finishes in the main car park at the top of the hill and takes you around the narrow lanes and alleyways of this delightful seaside village. You will uncover where Captain James Cook first discovered his passion for the sea and learn the secret behind the Mermaids Curse!
