SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, JUNE 5, 2014: TravMedia has announced they will host an International Media Marketplace (IMM) in Sydney on the opening day of Luxperience, on August 31, 2014. The event will bring together top-tier international and domestic media with key international travel and tourism brands, for a series of focused pre-scheduled appointments, and a networking lunch, before delegates will be invited to join the Luxperience Thought Leaders symposium and opening cocktail reception which officially marks the launch of Luxperience's 3-day program of business exchanges, between domestic and international buyers and luxury products.
TravMedia's CEO Nick Wayland said, “There are a lot of synergies with aligning the two events. Traditionally trade events find it challenging to cater to media when the primary focus is the exchange between buyers and sellers. International Media Marketplace provides a platform for the media to engage with international and domestic product, through pre-scheduled meetings and networking opportunities, which allows them to plan a year's worth of stories, features and trips in one day”.
Luxperience CEO Lindy Andrews said, “We're so pleased to host IMM Sydney at Luxperience 2014. Being the only bespoke luxury travel event in the Southern Hemisphere (and the only one its kind in Australia) it's important for us to ensure that media are kept informed on the evolving realm of luxury and experiential travel. Partnering with TravMedia to enhance the commentary and dialogue between our Luxperience members and the visiting media seemed a perfect fit”
International media delegates attending IMM will also be invited to participate in a pre or post familiarisation program, offering an excellent opportunity to explore Sydney and surrounds, or a bespoke itinerary to experience some of the best Australian and New Zealand tourism products.
IMM has been designed to enable exhibitors to showcase and promote their product to top-tier international and domestic media from across a broad-range of designations, including editors, freelancers, bloggers and photographers.
Exhibitors at IMM will conduct 18 pre-scheduled one-on-one appointments with media and enjoy networking opportunities over the morning and afternoon breaks and a special lunch with keynote speaker. Enhanced media opportunities and networking will also be available at the Luxperience Thought Leaders business forum and the opening cocktail reception.
Based on the popularity of the format, TravMedia's IMM in London also became a bi-annual event in its second year, with the next International Media Marketplace to be held on October 31, following TravMedia's IMM in March which brought together almost 200 media with 110 exhibitors at The Dorchester in London. In Australia, the last IMM was held earlier this month in Cairns during Tourism Australia's ATE and in 2013 TravMedia hosted the first IMM in Brisbane, with guest speaker Keith Bellows, Editor in Chief, National Geographic Traveler Magazine.
Expressions of interest to exhibit at IMM are now open for international travel and tourism product and Luxperience is offering exclusive rates for exhibitors participating at both events. IMM is by invitation-only to accredited media. The program is limited to 30 international and approximately 90 domestic media to meet with 100 exhibitors.
