NEW YORK, March 12, 2018 — Travelzoo® (TZOO), a global publisher of exclusive offers and experiences for members, will bring everyone's favorite green-themed holiday to life when it presents a series of live broadcasts from Ireland during St. Patrick's Week. Building on a partnership with Tourism Ireland that's eight years strong, Travelzoo will offer custom live interviews to dozens of U.S. TV stations from Dublin's famous Grafton Street on Friday, March 16th and from Dublin's St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 17th. The broadcasts will feature exclusive content highlighting travel to and around Ireland as well as on-the-scene commentary from what is one of the world's most spectacular parades.
To add unique access, Travelzoo senior editor Gabe Saglie will also host a Facebook livestream from Dublin's St. Patrick's Day Parade at 8.30am ET on March 17th. The Facebook stream will also be shared via Tourism Ireland's social media pages and the Facebook pages of Travelzoo UK and Canada. The two partners will also host a Twitter chat on March 14th at 12pm ET. A series of travelogue-style Instagram stories based on Saglie's journey throughout the Emerald Isle will also be shared.
Dublin's St. Patrick's Day celebrations are renowned for their pomp and spectacle, with the dozens of elaborate floats and musical acts that make it the second largest St. Paddy's Parade in the world (after New York City). The procession anchors weeklong festivities honoring Ireland's patron saint St Patrick and draws over 100,000 visitors from around the world. The festival parade starts at 12pm on March 17th and will showcase community groups and pageant companies from all over Ireland coming together to celebrate this year's parade theme 'Home Is Where the Heart Is' through a variety of performances and street theatre.
More than 70 million people around the world, including more than 35 million Americans, claim some degree of Irish heritage. During March last year Ireland was the most searched-for European destination on the Travelzoo website and Travelzoo members cite Ireland as one of the top European destinations they plan to visit in 2018.
