Traveltalk will kick off 2013 with two new editors on board. Jon Underwood has been appointed to the position of magazine editor, while Deborah Dickson-Smith takes the reins as online editor.

Jon Underwood comes to the role of Managing Editor of Traveltalk after a long and varied journalistic career. In his latest role, he will be responsible for the look and feel of Australia's favourite travel industry magazine, ensuring it stays ahead of its competitors and continues to be essential reading for its target audience.

Jon's passion for journalism was kindled at his local paper where village fetes and golden weddings paved the way to Fleet Street and eight years with the award-winning Daily Mail. A home-sick wife led Jon to Australia in 1997 where he worked in newspapers and magazines before a stint as a television producer for Network Ten and Channel Seven followed before returning to his journalistic roots.

For the past three years he has edited Golf Vacations and Vacations & Travel magazines, giving him a thorough understanding of the travel industry. It is this knowledge that he now brings to the role of Managing Editor of Traveltalk.

Deborah Dickson-Smith has added to her portfolio of writing assignments with her appointment as Online Editor of Traveltalk magazine. In this role Deborah will be responsible for the content direction of the website, the weekly newsletter and all social content.

With over 20 years experience in publishing, Deb has worked across a wide range of titles both on and off line including Australian Geographic, DMAG, Out & About With Kids, Cruise Passenger, Spa Life and AFTA Traveller. 

Deb starting blogging five years ago at www.littlenomads.com and since then has specialised in online content and digital marketing. She now splices her time as travel writer, social media diva, Traveltalk online editor and mum in her blended family of seven.

A regular contributor to Out & About with kids magazine, Deb also manages travel blogs for www.travel.ninemsn.com.au/family-travels and www.holidaygoddess.com 

Deborah has taken on the role of online editor effective immediately, while Jon starts in the New Year.
