Tailormade tour operator Audley Travel has conducted research into how people view sustainability in terms of their travel plans, as well as looking at their expectations of how they will travel in 2023.
Sustainability
Nearly half (49 per cent) of respondents said that they wanted to know more about how to travel sustainably and a similar amount (48 per cent) are more likely to book with a company that prioritises sustainability. Almost a third (32 per cent) are willing to pay more to incorporate sustainable options in their travel plans.
2023 travel plans
One third (35 per cent) of respondents say they expect to upgrade from their usual travel comfort level for 2023 trips, with 41 per cent saying they plan to spend more than usual on travel and the same number saying they plan to travel more than normal.

Audley surveyed 3,369 people in December 2022. The respondents included people who have travelled, booked or enquired about trips with Audley as well as those who had expressed an interest in information from Audley.
Respondents were asked if they strongly agreed, agreed, disagreed, strongly disagreed with the statements, or if they were undecided. The figures above reflect the respondents who strongly agreed or agreed with the statement.
