Travel Writing And Yoga Courses In South-West France

Daniel Scott

Daniel Scott, a travel journalist of twelve years and five continents experience, will be near Pau, in south-west France in April and May 2006, to present his Introduction to Travel Writing course. The course will be held at Barn, part of the Pyrenees Atlantiques, in a 19th century house with detached barn and private pool. Set in 10 acres, with a small wood, the house is surrounded by farmland - covered in maize and sunflowers in the summer. The course, held over 5 days, aims to give participants a real working knowledge of the travel writing industry, as well as develop stories, using this fascinating region as a backdrop. In addition, Sarah Downs, a yoga practitioner for ten years will be offering a simultaneous week-long yoga retreat in Barn during May 2006. This would enable couples or friends with an individual interest in travel and yoga to each attend one course separately but be on holiday in the same place. Daniel Scott's travel writing course aims to give participants a good working knowledge of narrative development, story structure, the secret of compelling storytelling, as well as cover the basics of travel photography and marketing their work. But the course, which has been running successfully in London and in Sydney over the past two years, is not solely for aspiring travel writers. It is also aimed at avid travellers who want to keep a better personal record of their adventures. The course is taught in a supportive and enjoyable way and group size is small, insuring plenty of individual attention for participants. Sarah Downs's yoga retreat aims to provide a balance between working dynamically and passively at all levels from beginner through to general. Students will experience a greater sense of vitality and inner strength and ultimately a quieter mind. The first travel writing course will be held at the Breakaway-to-Bearn centre in south-west France between April 9th-15th 2006. Travel writing and yoga courses will then be held offered simultaneously in Bearn between April 30th-May 6th 2006. The price for the courses is 520 and that includes all tuition, accommodation and meals. There is no single supplement payable. Barn is easily accessible via low-cost flights to Pau from London Stansted, and via scheduled flights to Toulouse or Bordeaux.
