Travel Trends - How We Want To Holiday In 2014

The Rosevine

British travellers looking to holiday in the UK are a savvy bunch, with increasingly sophisticated tastes and even higher standards. They know what good looks like. Meeting their needs is our number 1 concern. That is why  we have built our original Rosevine holiday concept around one key idea - flexibility.

Here are some of the flexible elements that British holiday makers are looking for in 2014 and how the Rosevine - a stylish boutique retreat by the sea near Portscatho in Cornwall - works to keep them happy!

Families

Families are often so stretched during the working week or the school term that come holiday time they want somewhere they can be together in peace - in 2014 families will be looking for something flexible that allows them plenty of private family space alongside the convenience of having great quality food on the premises so they don't have to cook themselves.

At the Rosevine in Cornwall we have come up with a way to holiday that blurs the boundaries between boutique hotel and self-catering. We offer suites and apartments not hotel rooms. But we also have a restaurant serving good modern country food plus many of the other services you would expect to find in a stylish boutique hotel. Many of the apartments have separate children's and adult bedrooms rooms within the stylishly furnished space - and a small kitchenette - giving guests the option to heat up snacks or order in deli dishes from the restaurant. But the shared "big house" spaces are comfortable and sociable too with a bar, drawing room and play room and an indoor pool.

Great local food you can take home

People expect good food on holiday. Seasonality and local sourcing are taken as read. In 2014 visitors will want the flexibility to be able to choose anything from a candle lit 3 course dinner to sharing plates of snacks or a cream tea, knowing that everything is local and fresh. But they are increasingly interested in visiting the farms and vineyards where the food and drink is sourced too, so they can look at how it is made and take some home.

At the Rosevine we have a fantastic head chef cooking with local, seasonal ingredients - offering steaks from the nearby Nanteague Farm, freshly caught Cornish fish and foraged ingredients from hedgerow herbs to blackberries. You will also find Tregothnan estate teas at breakfast and Cornish Elemental gin at the bar together with a wine list featuring some of the best wines Bob Lindo at the Camel Valley Vineyard has to offer. Guests can visit the sources of these great Cornish products and take some home.

Multigenerational Trips

Modern families are looking to reconnect across the generation and want to use the opportunity of a holiday to bond and spend time together. In 2014 expect to see more large parties seeking to holiday as a group but they will also want facilities on tap so that weary working adults are not expected to do all the hard work. With apartments that can be linked together and a self catering house in the grounds - at The Rosevine we increasingly host multi generational parties who use our big friendly house, indoor pool, restaurant and grounds flexibly to chill out together at all times of the year.

Short breaks

In our experience couples and young families not tied to school holidays are taking short breaks more often rather than saving it all for one big trip. They want to create their own personal holiday experience with the freedom to eat when they want, lounge around in pjs and to come and go as they please.

At the Rosevine we cater for couples wanting a weekend break to themselves as well as offering dates reserved for mums and dads wanting some beach time with their tiny ones - these Pre-school Tinies and Toddlers breaks let new parents spend time as a family with all the equipment they might need on hand and we suggest days out they might be able to manage easily with little ones - but it's up to them - we are simply on hand to help. Just some of the ways The Rosevine will be offering flexibility and choice to our guests in 2014.
