The new express way from the airport to Colombo was opened on 27th of October 2013.  This now drastically reduces the travel time to Reef Villa & Spa from the airport.

The expressway  passing through the open land of Sri Lanka's largest marshland, Muthurajawela marshes, the island's largest saline peat bog, and the Negombo lagoon, gives a glimpse of the natural beauty of Sri Lanka has drastically reduced the travel time from the airport Reef Villa & Spa.

So in addition to  the reduced travel time the journey is also far more interesting.

Muthurajawela bears a staggering variety of species of flora and fauna and 192 flora and 209 fauna, excluding 102 species of birds have been discovered. Some indigenous floras and faunas have also been found in Muthurajawela marsh.

Visitors may see water birds such as herons, egrets in abundance in the lagoon and the marsh. It is also a residence for 40 different species of fish, of which 15 fall under the category of indigenous fauna.
