GrinCreative has received international recognition, taking out a 2021 Travel Media Award for it's innovative digital publication Hurtigruten Magazine produced for the Hurtigruten Group.
The U.K based Travel Media Awards are a celebration of the very best in travel media, drawing close to 1000 entries each year from around the globe. Since launching in 2015, they have become one of the benchmark accolades in global travel media.
The partnership between Melbourne-based publishing company and Hurtigruten, a world leader in polar region exploration travel, netted the award in the Customer Content category for the globally distributed Hurtigruten Magazine.
The Customer Content category focused on business-to-customer focused content which displayed excellence in “visually exciting, well-written and engaging content.” Since launching as a digital magazine in the Australian market last year, Hurtigruten Magazine has expanded to become a major international success, now being delivered in six different languages across seven global markets.
The magazine is edited by Jeremy Drake, and is a deep dive into some of the most pristine and remote regions of the world, all explored by Hurtigruten.
Consumers have responded to the unique sensory experience delivered by an innovative digital magazine format, which is due to release a sixth edition in the coming weeks.
“There's no doubt that the constantly shifting headwinds in the current global travel climate have changed the way we, as publishers and brands, need to think when trying to reach and engage audiences.” publisher Justin Jamieson says. “We've responded to these shifts with what we believe is an exceptional delivery of written, visual and interactive content, and it's great to receive recognition of this.
“The award is also an acknowledgment of the great working relationship we have with the Hurtigruten team, and we look forward to continuing this partnership for a long time into the future.” Hurtigruten Managing Director Damian Perry was equally pleased with the recognition.
“This project was the brain child of Justin and the Grinners, as we at Hurtigruten struggled with the way in which the industry communicated some of the most inspiring product through story telling. By working together we established a partnership and creative environment where we looked at the guest experience in a new way. The expertise and direction from the Grin team allowed us to engage with a broader segment of travellers and celebrate what we do, where we go and the people that make travel so exceptional.

The awards were announced overnight at a gala ceremony held at the Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel, with Grin joining globally recognised brands such as BBC, The Times and The Guardian as guests on the night.
