The Australian Society of Travel Writers (ASTW) is pleased to confirm its first round of committed sponsors and prize supporters for the 2014 Journalism Awards for Excellence.
The names of the winners – just one important component of the ASTW Convention and Awards 2014 – will be announced at a gala presentation evening at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, on Saturday, 1 November 2014.
A number of the award categories have been secured by organisations and brands looking to support the long-standing, prestigious awards that have recognised Australia's leading writers and travel industry communicators since 1992.
“Every year, the awards present a closely contested competition among our peers focusing on the very best published work of the year,” ASTW president Kerry Heaney said. “Again, this year, we have had an overwhelming response.”
“Entries for the awards are now closed and judging is underway.”
Tourism Fiji, the major ASTW AGM and Awards Convention sponsor is also sponsoring the esteemed Travel Writer of the Year award, while the AGM destination, the InterContinental Fiji Resort & Spa is supporting the Best Communicator or Communications Team of the Year award.
Other award categories and their respective sponsors and prize providers include:

Ms Heaney thanked all the partners and award category supporters who have provided enticing incentives and rewards for writer and PR members.
“It is this valued support from the industry which continues to allow our members to celebrate and recognise the outstanding travel writing, photography and tourism communications that the Society produces every year,” Ms Heaney said.
“However, there are limited categories that have yet to confirm supporters and we encourage those who are interested in supporting a category to contact the ASTW Secretariat.”
