This year's World Travel Market (WTM) was another fantastic show for Just a Drop, which saw staff, exhibitors, suppliers, and visitors coming together to show their support and so far raise an estimated £18,500 for the charity – an increase of £6,500 compared to last year.
Just a Drop ran a very popular 'Use Water, Give Water' initiative from its giant tap stand, thanks to the creativity of SOUK. The charity encouraged visitors to make donations in exchange for a reusable water bottle (kindly donated by H2WOW!) and in return, free water refills were available from a range of 'water stations' around WTM; these were hosted by Pearl Marketing Reps, Chic Outlet Shopping, PATA, Myanmar Tourism Marketing, Oman Ministry of Tourism, Rixos Egypt and Hotelogix.
Aditya Sanghi, from Hotelogix said,“Hotelogix had partnered with Just a Drop to support clean, drinking water. We supported the organisation by keeping water coolers at our stand for visitors to come and refill their bottles. I hope we contributed enough to promote their mission of clean drinking water for kids.”
A range of other activities to support Just a Drop took place at exhibitor stands, including Brand USA and Shop America's designer watch auction which raised £1,000, and Sixt's and Affordable Car Hire's raffles, and Travel Bloggers Unite's Pub Pit Stop evening. In addition, ETOA raised over £5,500 at their gala dinner auction.
Kelly Railton, head of fundraising and communications at Just a Drop said, “The support and commitment shown by everyone involved in WTM has been phenomenal and we are delighted to have welcomed some new supporters this year. WTM's contribution to Just a Drop is significant and their ongoing support will ensure that the lives of many people will be significantly changed for the better; a sincere thank you to all.”
The activities of WTM follow on from a successful year for the charity in 2013/14 where, thanks in the main to the support of the travel industry, we have been able to deliver 55 projects in eight countries on three continents – supporting over 114,000 people to access clean, safe water.
