Townsville Bands to Join Aussie Music Stars for Townsville Rock Fest

The Not too Old to Dance

Five Townsville bands will play the show of their lives, when they support rock legends Baby Animals and Pseudo Echo at the Townsville Rock Fest, formerly Not too Old to Dance, on September 13, 2014.

Supersonic Sex Machine, GodFathers of Funk, The Blessed Outlaws, Euphoria, and Inertia have been selected as the local talent that will take to the Tony Ireland Stadium stage before the two bands from Aussie rock royalty.

Chris Baker, lead guitarist for Supersonic Sex Machine, can't wait to rock the stadium for the second time.

“It was fantastic to play at Not too Old to Dance last year, it was lots of fun and the crowd were awesome - it was amazing to see how involved they all got,” Baker said.

“Supersonic Sex Machine is a tribute to 80s glam rock, so when we're at a concert we really put on a show, not just songs. We love seeing the crowd's energy and outrageousness, which is a given at the Townsville Rock Fest.”

“We are most looking forward to doing what we do best, getting out there and going wild. It's always great to see people going wild with us and enjoying themselves.”

Les Tanzer, one of the vocalists and guitarists for Euphoria, said that they were excited to perform at the Townsville Rock Fest for the first time.

“Playing at the Rock Fest should be awesome, we're really looking forward to it. The size of the venue is really different to our normal pub scene, so we're looking forward to the atmosphere,” Tanzer said.

“We had a gig at a different venue on the night of Not too Old to Dance last year, so didn't get to watch. It will be great to play this year, we're sharing the limelight with some other great local bands which we know well, and will be awesome to play the same gig as some bigger bands too.”

Baby Animals and Pseudo Echo both released their first albums in over a decade this year, and will be sure to rock just as hard as they did when they first took the Australian rock scene by storm.

Festival promoter Margie Ryder said that she was thrilled to support Townsville's homegrown talent again this year.

“We have some tremendously talented bands in this city and I feel very lucky to be able to throw the spotlight on them through the Townsville Rock Fest,” said Mrs Ryder.

“We've always received overwhelmingly good feedback on the calibre of our local bands and I know this year will be the same. I encourage all the oldies and the old at heart who love music of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s to come along and cheer on our locals as they support Baby Animals and Pseudo Echo.”

The Townsville Rock Fest will be held on Saturday, 13 September, 2014. For more information and tickets, go to www.not2old2dance.com.
