Tourism Malaysia Welcomes New Director-General

Mr. Kamaruddin bin Siaraf has been appointed Tourism Malaysia�s new Director-General effective 1 September 2004, preceding YBhg Datuk Abdullah Jonid.

Previously, Tourism Malaysia's Deputy Director-General (1), Mr. Kamaruddin has been with the Civil Service for over 20 years and has held various administrative posts. He was Negeri Sembilan's Land and Mines Deputy Director and state advisor on land issues from June 1987 to October 1993.

Prior to that, Mr. Kamaruddin was with the Ministry of Agriculture. He was the Principal Assistant Secretary of the Agriculture Ministry�s Policy Planning Division in charge of commodity from January 1986 to June 1987, Head of the International Unit and Acting Head of the PR Unit from July 1984 to January 1986.

Born in May 1953 in Lenggeng, Negeri Sembilan, Mr. Kamaruddin obtained his Bachelor�s Degree in Economics from Universiti Malaya and his MA in Economic Development from the University of Vanderbilt, Tennessee, USA. He is married to Puan Rohayah Harun and they have four children.
