Tuscany, 5 October 2016: Castello di Ama, one of Chianti's top wineries, will unveil the latest commission for its world-class collection of contemporary art installations amid the vines this Sunday (9 October).

The Korean artist Lee Ufan will add Topos (Excavated) to the permanent installations on display at the 12th-century borgo near Siena. For his work, Ufan has used a wine cellar to create a dramatically lit mise en scène featuring a wall drawing and a floor painting, setting up a complex interplay between artwork, site and viewer to “produce the feeling of opening up a new universe”.

The art project, Castello di Ama per l'Arte Contemporanea (above, centre), which was set up in 1999, includes works by a number of other leading artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, including Anish Kapoor (above, left), Louise Bourgeois, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, and Hiroshi Sugimoto (above, right).

This very special collection of art is one of the highlights of 10 Chianti Classics, a selection of new and recommended activities and experiences handpicked by the team at To Tuscany (0121 286 7782; www.to-tuscany.com), the villa-booking website, to mark the 300th anniversary of Chianti. The free trail can be viewed online at www.to-tuscany.com/10-chianti-classics, downloaded as a hard copy, or onto mobile devices with live links to Google maps.

To Tuscany is currently offering discounts on nearby properties in October, including the school half-term break. A saving of 10% is available at Mietitore, a one-bedroom apartment at Montefiorile, for arrivals throughout October, price £380 per week, down from £423. A saving of 15% is on offer at Casa del Mastro at San Sano for the weeks of 15 and 22 October, price £639, down from £752.

Lee Ufan's Topos (Excavated) will go on display to the public from 10 October 2016.
