The famous fairways at La Manga Club in southern Spain will once again play host to a glittering array of footballing greats when the 2009 Footballers� Classic gets underway on June 6.
Now in its 13th year, the five-night extravaganza (6-11 June), will see more than 120 players compete in four competition rounds to win the right to be crowned champions in both the amateur team event and the professional footballer category.
Among the celebrities teeing it up this year will be defending champion Alan McInally, David Speedie, Dave Beasant, Gary Owen, Paul Jewell, Sammy Nelson, Steve Bull, Mike England, Pat Jennings, Des Walker, Matt Le Tissier, Garry Parker and Mike Newell.
A small number of team places remain available at �1,599 per person, based on a team of three.
Packages include flights, airport transfers, shared accommodation at the five-star La Manga Club Principe Felipe hotel, daily buffet breakfast, welcome buffet dinner, BBQ dinner, gala dinner with prize-giving and entertainment. Also included are four rounds of golf, golf shirts, gifts and prizes.
The event is once again sponsored by private car hire company Addison Lee, founded by John Griffin in 1975.
