Booking data at beach holiday specialist On the Beach has revealed the most popular destinations for Brits planning to enjoy Christmas and New Year in the sun this year, with Tenerife the most popular hot spot.

The sun-kissed Canary Islands of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria are also proving popular amongst Brits looking to spend Christmas in the sun this year, with mainland Spain also drawing in the crowds.

The ever-popular Algarve region of Portugal is the third most popular destination this Christmas, followed by Malta and Cyprus.
