Kvarner Region Tourist Board (English)

Here are our suggestions for five Kvarner beaches that offer everything for families:

Sipar and Sveti Ivan, Mošćenička Draga: The crystal-clear sea invites you to swim!

Mošćenička Draga, with its Mediterranean architecture, fishing tradition and interesting history, steals the hearts of all its visitors. Sveti Ivan Beach in Mošćenička Draga is listed among the 66 most beautiful European beaches according to the European Best Destinations portal. On the beach, which is almost two kilometres long, guests can choose from a selection of sports and recreational facilities, which makes this beach a good place for activity holidays. One of the most beautiful pebble beaches in Kvarner, it stretches along the coast of Mošćenička Draga, with numerous restaurants, windsurfing and diving centres, and tennis courts in its immediate vicinity (www.tz-moscenicka.hr).

Paradise Beach in Lopar on the island of Rab: To paradise and back

If you’re looking for a piece of paradise for your family, don’t miss Paradise Beach (Rajska plaža) on the island of Rab, whose beauty is revealed by its name. You’ll understand that this name is justified the moment you see the beautiful sandy beach with shallow sea and slides that are perfect for family fun. Its shoal stretches for several hundred metres, making the beach ideal for families with children and for various sports activities. The beach is also suitable for people with disabilities. Paradise Beach was included by CNN in its Top 100 beaches around the world (www.lopar.com).

Vela Plaža Beach in Baška on the island of Krk

Looking for beautiful, picturesque places, sandy and pebbly beaches, natural coves and picturesque landscapes? Then the island of Krk is the right choice for you. All of these phrases fit Vela Plaža Beach in Baška, which offers various opportunities for sports activities. The beach has a water amusement park that you can enjoy together with your children, and there’s also a games room with table football, billiards, pinball and other games (www.visitbaska.hr).

Crikvenica town beach

This pebbly beach with sandy parts, located 200 metres from the centre of Crikvenica, has always been the first choice for families with small children. The beach is suitable for all ages and also people with disabilities. Above the beach, you’ll find the pleasant shade of lush Mediterranean vegetation, which is ideal to hide in during the hottest hours of the day. The beach can be reached by car (www.rivieracrikvenica.com).

Kovačine Beach on the island of Cres

Sand, some rocks, blue sea, green pines and olives. Do you need anything else? Kovačine Beach is located below the campsite of the same name on the island of Cres. The beach is accessible by bike, on foot or by car, which you can park in the nearby parking area. Kovačine Beach abounds in additional facilities, such as deck chair and umbrella rental, entrance into the sea for those with disabilities, beach volleyball and much more. The beach is ideal for families with children, because while the adults swim, the children can play in the children’s park or aqua park, or enjoy a banana or tube ride. When you get hungry, you can try the local cuisine in the restaurant, or have a refreshing summer cocktail in the café (www.tzg-cres.hr).

Almost all the beaches that we recommend are proud to have been awarded the Blue Flag – an international symbol of the cleanliness and quality of the sea, beautifully landscaped areas, quality facilities and a preserved natural environment.

The Adriatic Sea is among the cleanest in Europe, as confirmed by the European Commission’s report on its seawater quality. It has been proven to contain more than 80 minerals and elements that have a positive effect on the human body.
