Holidaymakers in search of autumn sun can snap up one of three new properties, all with excellent availability, from online villa-booking specialist To Tuscany (0121 286 7782; www.to-tuscany.com).
The three villas – two of which are recently renovated – have just been added to the website, which has good availability across a large selection of houses for late-season breaks. With children back at school and the crowds diminishing, this is a great time to visit Tuscany. It's still warm enough to swim in the pool, festival season is beginning, celebrating the local wine, truffles and chestnuts, and there are outdoor concerts and arts events to enjoy.
The recently renovated Casa Leonardo (above left) is set on a hilltop just 2km from Vinci, birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci. Sleeping five in three bedrooms, the villa has a spacious garden and private pool. It costs £2,184 per week from 13 and 20 September, and £1,820 per week until the end of October.
Isola Serena (above centre) has also just been restored. It is surrounded by four acres of private land with views across the surrounding countryside and offers a large Jacuzzi pool, which is open year round. The six-bedroom, six-bathroom house sleeps 12 and costs £3,631 per week from 13 and 20 September, and £3,058 per week from 27 September and throughout October.
Violino at San Donato in Perano (above right), which is new to the rental market, lies in the heart of the Chianti region. Retaining many original features, the villa can sleep up to eight people (no children under 12) and shares a large pool with 360-degree views. It costs £2,730 per week from 13 and 20 September, and £2,230 per week until the end of the year
With more than 600 high-quality, affordable properties in its collection, the online villa-booking specialist is an excellent prospect for finding a good-value autumn holiday. “This is a great time to visit because prices generally drop by 25 per cent,” says Sean Caulfield, founder of To Tuscany. “And by the end of September they fall by a further 15 per cent, making a visit for the grape harvest great value. Availability is good for the final two weeks of September – and approximately 400 of our 625 properties are still available to book for the first week of October.”
