Explore adds pioneering trips for teenagers to family holiday programme for 2018

Explore has this week announced an extended family holiday programme for 2018, including new Lite trips in Europe and a selection of exciting and adventurous trips for families with older children about to set off on their own adventures in life.

Designed with intrepid families in mind, and serving as a taster for gap year trips – and perhaps a reminder for seasoned-traveller parents of their own pre-family explorations – the Family Beyond trips are ideal for the last family holiday together before university. The itineraries have been crafted to combine all the regions' highlights as well as lesser-known places with surprises along the way.

Five top new family trips from Explore

Indonesian Highlights (Explore Beyond) Experience the best of Indonesia as we showcase the islands of Flores, Komodo, Bali and Lombok on this family adventure of a lifetime. Travel on Explore's family Indonesian Highlights trip and venture through rice paddy fields, past dramatic volcanoes, and thick tropical jungle and stopping to walk through ancient tribal villages steeped with thousands of years of tradition. Spend three days on the waters off the Komodo archipelago in search of the infamous Komodo dragon, the world's largest species of lizard, brought to a global audience by Sir David Attenborough. French Alps Adventure (Lite) Stay seven nights at the Chalet Hotel Rosset in the heart of Tignes-le-Lac, which offers scenic views across the lake.
