Bruce Willis waves while gassing up his SUV on Sunset Boulevard, “Honey Boo Boo” blows kisses from her car seat and Emma Roberts chats while strolling in Beverly Hills. Dennis Rodman and Shaquille O'Neal offer handshakes and pose for pictures. Regis Philbin stops his lunch to give a full interview. And Cee-Lo Green decides to hop on to see what it's all about.
What has these stars so intrigued? It's the TMZ Hollywood Tour bus, rolling through the “thirty mile zone”, while entertaining passengers with celebrity haunts and the stories behind them. Now, the tour has been updated to include the latest places where the stars love to hang out.
The tour's new route includes the Pacific Design Center, location of many star-studded events such as the Elton John Oscar Party, and Urth Café where TMZ's cameras capture stars interested in organic cuisine, including recent sightings and interviews with Jessica Alba, Katy Holmes and Steven Tyler. Nearby, DASH, the Kardashian store, has a who's who clientele, next to the Vera Wang store where an uncanny number of bridal gown purchases have graced celebrity brides who are now divorced (Kimmie's dress for her 93-day wedding to Chris Humphries was created there. The TMZ Tour touts a list of eight stars whose Wang-bought gown did not live happily ever after.)
“The Hollywood visitor's appetite for the stars is never satisfied,” said Philip Ferentinos, director of Starline Tours, the oldest and largest tour operator in Los Angeles. But the love affair between theTMZ Hollywood Tour Freshens the Route and adds new Star Sightings in Hollywood stars and the rollicking red custom-designed TMZ bus has moved beyond the normal sightings and waves. “ Now, when stars see the TMZ van appearing with adoring fans, they stop, chat, pose for pictures and are really lovely and look as though they are enjoying the attention they receive from the TMZ guides,” commented Ferentinos. He added that the TMZ Hollywood Tour, created by Harvey Levin, will always be cutting edge, because TMZ knows there the stars' latest favorite spots are.
As the original creator of the Movie Stars' Homes Tour, Starline's celebrity-savvy works in tandem to TMZ's uncanny ability to capture stars on film, and the result is a two hour romp through the neighborhoods where stars dine, shop, night club and occasionally get caught by TMZ cameras. The tour guide is equipped with a camera, and sends the star footage to the TMZ studios, and many times passengers can see the piece on the smart phones before the tour ends.
Tours run multiple times daily, add an evening tour during summer weekends, and hotel pick-up is available at more than 250 hotels. All tours depart from the Starline Tours Terminal at (Grauman's) TCL Chinese Theatre on the Walk of Fame, 6925 Hollywood Boulevard.
Tickets are from $63 for adults, $53 for youth 3-12 (online offers a savings -- $49 for adults, $39 for youth.) Go to www.starlinetours.com or www.tmztour.com to reserve and purchase online and view recent celebrity sightings on the TMZ Hollywood Tour.
