'Capture Faversham' is a social media photo exhibition which celebrates the beauty and character of Faversham, a medieval market town, roughly halfway between Sittingbourne and Canterbury on the A2, the old Roman road linking Dover with London.
Organised by 'Visit Faversham' and designed to capture people's memories and experiences of Faversham the competition has received over 600 entries. From stunning creekside sunsets to fascinating architectural details, the photos reveal the character and charm of this medieval market town.
Visitors to Faversham are encouraged to attend the exhibition and will be able to vote for their favourite image as part of a People's Choice award. Be inspired by the images and spend some time and stay in the town and surrounding Kentish villages. Experience cutting-edge art, inventive cuisine, funky cultural quarters, chic sleep-spots, super-fast links to London and Europe. Archetypal England, ancient gabled buildings nestling along the slowly lapping waters of the creek, the aroma of hops, the taste of freshness from surrounding orchards and fields.
Faversham is the real thing, Kent as it was and still is, preserved yet lived in, cherished yet authentic, tranquil yet vibrant and creative, a place with every historic nuance you could wish for along with all the contemporary comforts you crave.
The exhibition displaying the shortlisted entries is taking place from 22nd June until 29th June, open daily from 10am until 3pm and hosted by Faversham Town Council at 12 Market Place, Faversham, Kent. ME13 7AE. (01795 503286).
The photographs have been judged by award-winning international photographer Perou, who has selected an Expert's Choice winner to be announced at the exhibition, and the exhibition provides the opportunity for visitors to vote for their favourite image.
Claire Windridge, from Faversham Town Council which manages Visit Faversham, says: “Every year thousands of people visit Faversham and take stunning photographs of this historic, creekside town - and we were delighted so many entered them into the Capture Faversham competition. The two prize winners will win weekend breaks in Faversham - including a stay at Mount Ephraim, a Shepherd Neame brewery tour and free meals at popular local pubs and cafés.”
