The British Guild of Travel Writers is deeply saddened to report the sudden death of Tim Ware, one of its longest established members, aged 69.

An affable charming and astute companion, Tim made a host of friends in travel writing and across the travel industry.

He worked on regional and national newspapers before turning freelance, contributing to daily newspapers, consumer magazines and trade journals and - for 13 years - script writing for TV's Wish You Were Here?

He will be sorely missed.
