Eight-night trip travels to Arctic Circle and the fjords

Simply Sweden has launched a new tour for 2015 featuring three of Scandinavia's most scenic train rides.

The Great Scandinavian Rail Journey is an eight-night trip from Stockholm to Oslo, via Narvik, Bodø and Trondheim, including The Arctic Circle Train, The Northern Railway and The Dovre Railway. From Sweden's Arctic wastes to Norway's fjords, the new tour offers front-row views of spectacular wilderness.

The Arctic Circle Train travels from Stockholm to Narvik, hugging Sweden's Baltic coast and plunging through boreal forest before entering the icescapes of the Arctic Circle. An overnight stay on the sleeper train is one of the highlights of this memorable trip.

The Northern Railway continues the journey across the Arctic to Norway's fjordal coast, where the mountains rise out of the sea. The final stretch, on The Dovre Railway, travels across Norway's national parks and cuts through mountain valleys, passing by the country's largest lake, Mjøsa, along the way.

The Great Scandinavian Railway Journey includes time to explore Stockholm and Oslo, as well as Narvik, Bodø and Trondheim. It also offers a novel way to take in the Northern Lights, from October to March, and the Midnight Sun from the end of May to mid-August.

Price from £1,425 per person, based on two sharing, including return flights from the UK, private cabin on the sleeper train on a room-only basis, day trains, B&B hotel accommodation, long-distance coach transfers from Narvik to Bodø, and a 48-hour Stockholm tourist card.
