It was out with the old and in with the new for Three Cities Bantry Bay Suite Hotel, Cape Town, when the Western Cape Hotel invested in a new arty and hip make-over with a touch of elegance to the popular Freddie’s Bar and Lounge.
Started in November last year and completed in mid- December, 2013, the entire lounge area was converted into a more ‘user friendly’ and relaxing environment for guests. The Hotel management had found that the existing set-up was not ‘friendly’ enough and resembled more of a living room lounge with a lack of seating. With specialised design input and concept implemented by professional interior designer Dee de Kock, the concept brief was simple: to create a space that allowed for more guests while not compromising on personal space.
Pleased with the outcome GM Eben Lassen described the new look and feel. “The design is a long banquet seat with glass coffee tables and cocktail tables that can accommodate a lunch or laptop. We couldn’t find furniture that suited the project so we had all of the furniture tailor-made through PODO, with the most beautiful fabric and suggestions by Dee de Kock. We were concerned about the New York Square wall colour – which is a dark charcoal, almost black but she insisted and it came out beyond our expectation.”
