24th November 2016: Last night, the Gastronomic Restaurant at The Yeatman Hotel became the first restaurant in Porto to be awarded two Michelin Stars. During the Spain and Portugal Michelin Guide 2017 awards, held in Barcelona last night, Chef Ricardo Costa, Head Chef at The Yeatman Hotel in Porto, who brought the first Michelin Star to Porto in 2011, made history once again for his contemporary interpretation of traditional Portuguese cuisine.
Continuously raising the bar of gastronomic excellence at The Yeatman Hotel, Chef Ricardo Costa is now one of only two chefs in Portugal to hold a second a Michelin Star and has paved the way for Porto as a culinary destination. Chef Ricardo's philosophy focuses on showcasing the best local produce and traditional recipes, prepared using innovative techniques, and it is this passion for the unexpected, combined with the love of family classics that has lead him to being awarded his second star.
“To be awarded a second Michelin Star is one of the greatest honours for a chef and it is down to the hard work of everyone at the hotel that we were able to bring this prolific award back with us to The Yeatman,” Chef Ricardo Costa comments. “I want to thank the extremely talented restaurant team that I work with for their passion and commitment to excellence, the management team for incentivising us to grow creatively and to the guests, it is them that keeps us working hard and moving in the right direction”.
Showcasing Portugal's vast range of fresh produce as well as its diversity of regional specialties, the Gastronomic Restaurant at The Yeatman strives to offer Porto's most inspiring dining experience. With an extensive wine cellar housing one of the world's most comprehensive selection of Portuguese wines, the Gastronomic Restaurant makes a special feature of food and wine pairing, further complimenting the culinary experience.
