Glasto, the Isle of Wight, Coachella. If you've been there and done that then maybe it's about time you took a walk on the weird side.
We're talking about those festivals where tomatoes get thrown (thousands of 'em), and Knobs, and where grown men jump off piers into the sea.
Like Christmas they only come around once a year, so here is the Beds on Board Guide to the strangest festivals you'll ever attend – and some great ideas about boats to stay on while you're attending them (because, good luck getting a hotel!).
La Tomatina, Valencia, Spain.
This giant food fight in the town of Bunol has become a ticketed event where 20,000 people gather to chuck more than 100 tonnes of squishy tomatoes at each other. Accommodation is limited – only 9,000 people live in Bunol - which makes a Beds on Board boat the ideal solution to seeing or attending the festival.
El Barco is moored in Marina Real Juan Carlos and is a sailing yacht sleeping two (the owners live on board) from £43.13 a night www.bedsonboard.com/boat/el-barco-inglesyour-floating-apartment-in-valencia

For the avoidance of confusion (!) Dorset Knobs are a specific type of large biscuit produced in the beautiful county of Dorset and are the centrepiece of an annual festival each year, where participants can do a lot of fun and silly things with their Knob.
Better still, if you attend, it gives you an excuse to stay on one of these floating beauties…
Sleeping four people with prices starting at £175 per night, this yacht is based in Port of Poole Marina with views of the magical Brownsea Island. www.bedsonboard.com/boat/princess-motor-yacht-near-poole-quay-with-brownsea-island-views

Monkey Buffet Festival, Pra Prang Sam Yot temple, Lopburi province, Thailand.
Every year the folk of Lopburi place a veritable feast outside their temple, as a thank-you to the long-tailed macaque monkeys who live in the town and make it a popular tourist destination.
Stay in Thailand on this yacht, based in Phuket Yacht Haven, which costs £197.55 per night for six sharing www.bedsonboard.com/boat/luxury-50-sport-yacht
Ottery St Mary Tar Barrels, Devon, UK.
Every year – for reasons which are still not completely understood – the people of this Devon village run through the streets with lighted tar barrels on their shoulders in what has become a must-see event, every November.
Enjoy the spectacle then stay in this seafaring county on one of the following boats:
The Pilgrim of Brixham is moored in this historic port and sleeps ten people with prices starting at £499 per night. www.bedsonboard.com/boat/pilgrim-of-brixham-the-jewel-in-the-crown-of-the-south-devon-historic-fleet
