Forget London, Sochi and Brazil - if you really want to be entertained by top-class athletes putting their bodies on the line in search of sporting immortality, look no further than Llanwrtyd Wells, the UK's smallest town, and the World Alternative Games.
Originally born after it was announced that London would be hosting the 2012 Olympic Games, the World Alternative Games has become famous for the wide variety of unique and fascinating events, including everything from Worm Charming to Chariot Racing, from Bathtubbing Championships to Wife Carrying Championships.
Perhaps the most popular and well-known events are the World Bog Snorkelling championships, the Man vs Horse race and the Gravy Wrestling championships.
The official opening ceremony for this year's games takes place on the 8th of August, while the 9th and 10th of August will play host to a range of events including the Space Hopper race, the Finger Jousting championships and the Mountain Bunny Hop.
So if you've caught yourself watching the 200m final and wondering what might happen if one contestant were a horse, or thinking that the kayaking championships could be infinitely improved by swapping boats for bathtubs, why not take a punt on the World Alternative Games.
