Whistler Blackcomb To Open For Summer Operations
Whistler Blackcomb opened for summer on June 29. With a commitment to safety for staff and visitors, this summer's modified operating plan focuses on sightseeing and mountain biking. Hiking and sightseeing guests will upload via Blackcomb Gondola, travel to Whistler Mountain via the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola and download on the Whistler Village Gondola. The Whistler Mountain Bike Park will open with the Fitz and Garbanzo zones. Grab 'n' go food options will also be available at the Rendezvous, Garbanzo Bike and Bean, and the Roundhouse Lodge. Expanded Outdoor Dining Seating and Offerings
The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) has implemented changes to increase outdoor dining seating for the summer to meet orders of the Provincial Health Officer related to COVID-19. These initiatives include a streamlined review and approval process for temporary patio extensions for existing food and beverage establishments to allow for physical distancing; adding more picnic tables throughout the resort and its parks and the return of Food Trucks at select lakes.
The Woodlands Rooftop Pop-Up Restaurant at Fairmont Chateau Whistler
This summer, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler has introduced a 3-course family-style summer BBQ dinner available on the Fairmont Chateau Whistler's beautiful Woodlands Rooftop Terrace. This relaxed and welcoming rooftop pop-up restaurant features live music, refreshing drinks, a delicious local-inspired menu prepared by Executive Chef, Isabel Chung, and a picture-perfect mountain backdrop. $49/per person + tax. Friday & Saturday evenings, seating starting at 5:00pm.

The Crystal Lodge Re-brands
The Crystal Lodge, (formerly The Crystal Lodge & Suites), an independent hotel in Whistler Village announced a major re-branding. In partnership with CHIL Interior Design Firm, The Crystal Lodge is creating connectivity in their new spaces with design elements that repeat through guestrooms and common areas. The Deluxe Studios, One Bedrooms, and Lofts have undergone a transformation including light tone millwork, black frame bathroom mirrors, Pacific NorthWest art, contemporary furniture choices with a modern Scandinavian look and feel, maintaining the modern, mountain cabin influenced design aesthetic.

Audain Art Museum Tuesday Night Talks
The Audain Art Museum's (AAM) new Tuesday Night Talks (TNT) hosted by Museum Director and Chief Curator Dr. Curtis Collins, offer a unique opportunity for online participants to simultaneously enter the Museum and the artist's studio or home during the evening, while learning about key works in the AAM's Permanent Collection directly from their respective makers. Be sure to register for this live Audain Art Museum broadcast on Zoom and participants invited to submit advance questions for the artists to consider as an essential part of TNT's interactive format.
Whistler Film Festival (WFF) Talent Programs: Indigenous Filmmaker Fellowship Opens
In celebration of National Indigenous History Month, WFF has opened the call for applications for their annual Indigenous Filmmaker Fellowship, which supports up to six Indigenous Canadian creators with short-form film concepts or web series in development at the script stage. New for this year, the creative and business immersion experience will take place virtually over five months. The Fellowship will begin in November, with workshops and meetings leading up to participating in the Whistler Film Festival & Content Summit. The program will continue with three months of project mentorship and a series of online workshop sessions until the end of March 2021. Content in all genres can be submitted for consideration. Application Deadline: September 10, 2020.
