The Venetian Carnevale Ends on a High Note at Venetian Macao Italian-Themed Festival a Popular Family-Friendly Attraction in Town

Venetian Macau Limited

(Macao, April 14, 2014) – The Venetian® Macao celebrated the successful final day of The Venetian Carnevale 2014 Sunday night, with a bustling crowd of visitors of all ages grabbing the last chance this year to enjoy an exciting array of Italian-themed carnival festivities at the integrated resort's outdoor lagoon area. Supported by the Macau Government Tourist Office, the iconic, free-admission Carnevale returned to The Venetian Macao for a fourth year and has attracted an average of up to 10,000 visitations per day during the 17-day period, March 28 to April 13.

“We're proud to see that our signature Venetian Carnevale has continued to be loved by locals and tourists alike in its fourth edition, and it was definitely a success for Macao and for us,” said Olaf Gueldner, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Sands China Ltd. “We're pleased to offer such amazing, family-friendly carnival festivities for our visitors and guests to enjoy again this year, and we aim to continue to host more events of similar kinds in the future, further strengthening Macao's position as a world centre of tourism and leisure and one of the premier entertainment destinations in the region.”

Kenny Bee, Bennett Pang, Danny Yip and Anthony Chan from the seasoned Hong Kong rock band The Wynners also made special appearances at The Venetian Carnevale Sunday afternoon, performing four classic tunes on stage and surprising the elated visitors and audiences on the final day of the carnival.

The Venetian Carnevale is Macao's definitive destination event and has transformed the Venetian lagoon into a fun-filled Italian carnival, with high calibre live performances, family-friendly entertainment and activities, as well as delicious meals and snacks. The Carnevale has become one of the annual signature events to drive visitations to Macao.  A highlight of this year's program was the lagoon spectacular, Venetian Light Storm, featuring the Lords of Lightning. One of the most unique and fascinating shows ever to appear in Macao, Venetian Light Storm harnessed 4 million volts of live raw electricity into a mystical flow of oscillating chaos, with two performers weaving shards of coruscating electricity into a fluid dance before breaking out into a primal battle of crackling energy. The Lords of Lightning succeeded in amusing the audiences with their Asia debut at The Venetian Macao, leaving them jaw dropped and breathless at the end of the show.

Other popular festive elements and activities featured in this year's Carnevale included the Tunnel of Lights; a carousel; Streetmosphere entertainment like comedy acts; speed spray painting; live musical performances by a marching band; LED drumming; arts and crafts workshops; and a delicious variety of Italian delicacies. The speed spray painting booth also contributed for a good cause by donating proceeds generated from the sale of the paintings to the Macau Special Olympics.

The Venetian Carnevale 2014may have already come to an end, but a diverse range of top notch entertainment and events can be expected to arrive at The Venetian Macao in the remainder of the year.
