The U.S. Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council (USCHT) announces that Anita Boeker has been appointed as the new Communications Director of the organization. Boeker's responsibilities will include on-going communications with USCHT partners, tour operators, media and others interested in USCHT. She will also manage USCHT's website, TheCulturalTraveler.com, assist in the planning and implementation of The Cultural Traveler, the annual guide published by USCHT and support the ONE Travel Conference which is presented annually with USCHT's partner, Shop America Alliance.
Boeker is based in the San Diego area and has more than 30 years of business and management experience, 25 of those in the marketing arena with San Diego Zoo, San Diego CVB and Craig Realty Group. Her background includes work in retail, non-profit, tourism and attractions industries. She is currently the founder and principal of Creative Solutions Marketing, a marketing and events company.
Boeker will report directly to Rosemary McCormick, CEO/Co-Founder of the U.S. Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council and President of Shop America Alliance. Sheila Armstrong, Co-Founder of the USCHT, is stepping aside from her role as President of USCHT. She has served in this leadership position since the association's launch in 2007, but has announced that she will no longer be active in the organization, beginning in January 2016.
“With Sheila's transition we both wanted to insure that USCHT continues to provide strong leadership and enhanced value to our partners. We are confident that Anita will be a great asset to USCHT as we expand the organization's role in marketing the nation's cultural and heritage tourism assets. We are excited to have her as part of our team,” said McCormick.
