The TreadRight Foundation Partners with Just a Drop to Bring Clean Water to Cambodian Communities in Need

The TreadRight Foundation

The TreadRight Foundation, created as a joint initiative between The Travel Corporation's (TTC) family of brands, has partnered with Just a Drop, an international water development charity, to bring clean and safe waters to three villages in the Kralanh District of Cambodia: Damrey Slap, Knar Chor, and Rolom Sway.

“Since its founding, Just a Drop has encouraged travel and tourism businesses to give back in the places in which they operate, a charge that aligns perfectly with our mission at TreadRight,” said TTC CEO and TreadRight Foundation Founder Brett Tollman. “They've initiated more than 130 water development projects, serving an estimated 1.3 million children and their families to date, and we are proud to help them continue to reduce child mortality by delivering access to clean, safe water to the places where it is needed most.”

Funding from The TreadRight Foundation will allow Just a Drop to deliver high impact interventions in water supply, sanitation and hygiene with a strong emphasis on community leadership in each of the three villages. The project aims to transform the lives of the 1,806 villagers by improving general health as water-related illnesses decrease; improving quality of life through sanitation and hygiene; giving children better opportunities to secure an education as they are not ill nor needing to collection water; allowing women to earn income as they have no need to fetch water, thereby improving gender and social inequality; making money more available to communities as less resources are spent on medicine; and creating a situation in which more people are likely to stay in the villages as economic conditions improve.

“Just a Drop is thrilled to be working with The TreadRight Foundation for the first time to bring clean and safe water to so many people in Cambodia,” said Just a Drop's Head of Fundraising & Communications Brendan Hanlon. “The project will have a huge impact on the community and change so many lives for the better.”

Just a Drop was born based on the premise that when people give a little, a huge difference is made collectively. One child dies every 90 seconds from water-related disease, but Just a Drop's projects establish community-based structures for maintenance and management of facilities, safeguarding long-term assistance. Through its support of Just a Drop, TreadRight continues its mission to ensure the environments and communities TTC's family of brands visit remain vibrant for generations to come. Multiple TTC brands provide unforgettable travel experiences within Cambodia and are proud to contribute to the sustainability and development of the destination.
