The Travmedia Summit Asia 2022 Reunites the Best in Tourism to Discuss Challenges & Opportunities as Travel Rebounds

Singapore 17 October 2022 - The TravMedia Summit Asia 2022, presented in partnership with Tourism Australia, brought together more than 150 tourism brands, travel writers, editors, influencers and broadcast journalists from across Asia Pacific for an incredible day of networking, learning and development. As the industry continues to rebound after a difficult two years, the TravMedia Summit is helping the industry grow by discussing the challenges and opportunities available as the world opens.

The Summit presenters delved into some of the key topics that travel writers and travel brands need to know as the industry grapples with surging demand in the face of staff shortages, concerns for the environment and the fast-changing media landscape.

Keynote speaker Gary Bowerman, one of Asia's most renowned travel analysts, on-air hosts and authors, discussed Rethinking the Travel & Lifestyle Economy, outlining the latest trends and explaining how travel brands can capitalise on changing consumer perceptions and the evolving travel and lifestyle economy.

The day started with a panel on The Perfect Pitch – how to pitch to the region's best travel editors, whether you are a freelance writer or a PR trying to get your story featured. Ideas were shared by Kelli Armstrong, Managing Editor, ESCAPE; Shivya Nath, award-winning Travel Blogger, The Shooting Star; and Mavis Teo, Freelance Travel Writer for many of Asia's top travel publications and Editor-at-Large for Prestige Singapore.

Choy Teh, a passionate leader in sustainable tourism, led a thought-provoking panel on Sustainable Tourism – what brands can do to protect people and the planet better. She was joined by Lilit Marcus, Editor, CNN Travel; Mark Olsen, CEO, Tourism Tropical North Queensland; Penny Rafferty, Executive Chair, Luxury Lodges of Australia; and Angelique Teo, Radio Personality on ONE FM 91.3's The Big Show.

The Slam with Travel Editors panel saw Ellie Cobb, Senior Journalist, BBC Travel; Christopher Hill, Editor-in-chief, DestinAsian;  Siew Hua Lee, Travel Editor, The Straits Times; and Aindrila Mitra, Editor-in-chief, Travel + Leisure India and South Asia share what stories editors are looking for and how to get more coverage.

The day wrapped up with a PR Panel led by the highly respected communications expert Gaynor Reid, on Future Proofing your PR team in Uncertain times –the changing role of PR in an ever-changing media landscape. Gaynor was joined by Vivian Koh, Area Director of Public Relations & Marketing Communications, Asia- Pacific, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts; Esther Ng, SEA PR & Communications Manager, Tourism Australia; Victoria Sertic, Vice President Marketing & Communications, Accor Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea; and Agatha Yap, Marketing Chief, Scoot Airlines.

The Summit concluded with Networking Drinks At Raffles Courtyard, hosted by Raffles Singapore.

The TravMedia Summit was held on the first day of the two-day event International Media Marketplace, Asia's number one media networking event for the travel industry.
