The St. Regis Monarch Beach Announces Renovated Rooms and Suites

Refreshed guest rooms, enhanced technology and new hyper-local cuisine part of renovations at the Orange County resort

The St. Regis Monarch Beach has announced the $30 million dollar renovation of the resort's 400 distinguished rooms and suites, to be completed in June of this year. Redesigned to reflect a coastal palette of cool blues, greens and crisp whites, the newly appointed rooms will seamlessly blend with the resort's strong Mediterranean architecture. Located along the bluffs of the Orange County coast, the AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star resort has been a leader in California luxury since its opening in 2001.

To create the new look for the rooms and suites, The St. Regis Monarch Beach partnered with Los Angeles-based Rodrigo Vargas Design, known for its passion for understated luxury. The refreshed rooms feature modern textiles top to bottom, sea grass textured wallpaper, luxurious chaise lounges, flexible headboard reading lamps, ocean-inspired artwork, and marble top armoires to complement the full marble baths. Updated patio furniture will adorn the balconies off every room and suite, and all first-floor balconies will feature new fire pits for true beach lifestyle.

“We designed an upscale but relaxed setting that reflects the look and feel of a well-appointed home overlooking the ocean, where you would feel just as comfortable walking through the lobby in sandals or stilettos,” said Rodrigo Vargas, the design firm's founder and namesake.

In addition to the new aesthetics, guest rooms and suites now feature enhanced in-room technology. New communication panels provide one-touch access to housekeeping to request service, turndown or privacy, and guests can now send text messages prompting valet to retrieve their vehicles. A new press reader service gives guests access to more than 3,000 full-content daily newspapers and magazines on their devices, and Bluetooth-enabled alarm clocks and wall-mounted flat screen televisions allow guests to sync their phones or tablets to play music and stream movies.

“As we approach the resort's 15th anniversary, the refreshed rooms and technology upgrades will ensure our business and leisure guests' stays are even more memorable,” said Ian Pullan, general manager of The St. Regis Monarch Beach. “Whether guests spend their days at the private beach, golf course, spa or in the executive boardrooms, they will be fully immersed in the resort's inviting, coastal luxury.”

Other updates on property include a new menu fusing healthy eating and seaside elegance at Motif, one the resort's seven dining options. With a focus on organic produce, sustainable seafood and humanely-raised meats, new seasonal menu items include ceviche with scallops and summer melon, grilled octopus with citrus marinade, and quinoa tagine with roasted vegetables.

Come early summer, the resort will complete construction of a new garden and rooftop bee program to provide hyper-local ingredients for Motif's new menu. The garden will feature herbs including lavender, thyme and tarragon, as well as seasonal produce such as heirloom tomatoes, squash and eggplants. Other additions to the garden will include Meyer lemons, ginger limes and a fig tree, in keeping with the resort's Mediterranean feel.

Motif's new bee program will produce honey for pastries and restaurant dishes, smoothies and juices. The culinary team has also adopted two goats that live at the Drake Family Farms in Ontario, Calif. and provide goat cheese exclusively for Motif. The fresh goat cheese, beehives and garden are the latest additions in The St. Regis Monarch Beach's ongoing commitment to provide savory and sustainable cuisine befitting the active California lifestyle.
