The Siam

Bangkok, 18 April 2018: Acclaimed luxury urban resort, The Siam Bangkok, is celebrating its fifth birthday this month with the launch of Our World. The beautiful new book of photographs captures the intimate life of this renowned riverside sanctuary, showcasing the hotel's journey to date through captivating and never-before-shared memoirs.

The coffee-table book has been created by Krissada Sukosol Clapp, founder and creative director of The Siam Bangkok.  Showcasing the unmistakeable Art Deco design, opulent architecture and the rare collection of antiquities and curios that make the hotel so distinctive, the book highlights The Siam's passion for providing guests with unparalleled service and signature experiences. The Siam's unique appeal is reflected in the opportunities it offers for discovery and immersion in many different traditions and facets of Thai culture, from a dedicated Sak Yant parlour offering sacred tattoos or Muay Thai Boxing with a Pro-Thai Olympic champion complete with a visit to a local training gym, through to traditional Thai cooking classes.

From the early conception of The Siam, it was the Sukosol family's desire that the hotel's eye catching interiors and beautiful surrounds would leave a lasting impression on its guests.   The result is the dramatic architecture, rooms and spaces created by globally acclaimed American architect and designer, Bill Bensley.

I have always believed that time spent in a great hotel has the promise of precious lifetime memories and we hope the images and words captured on the pages of our hotel book will, for many years to come, serve as a souvenir to our guests of the happy memories and enjoyable times spent living well at The Siam, or perhaps as an inspiration to visit” says Krissada Sukosol Clapp. “At The Siam our passion is for offering our guests uplifting harmonious design, unparalleled luxury and comfort, generous service and restoring balance at our Opium Spa. It is also our hope that a stay with us will open a small door to Siamese life and history through the many antiques and curios on display in the hotel – many of which are from mine and my mother Kamala's personal collections, and have been captured in these pages”

Our World was a collaboration with leading London photographer and writer Michael Paul.  “It is my greatest wish that this book has captured the soul of The Siam,” says Michael. “I hope it shows the very essence of what makes The Siam such a very different and intimate destination. It was a great privilege collaborating with the dedicated team at The Siam to jointly craft a book that that has hopefully recorded a part of Thai history and culture.”

The large hard cover coffee-table book, published by Serindia Contemporary, Thailand, will be available from Curio (Hotel's Gift Shop) and is on sale at Asia books, Amazon and other leading book stores around the globe.
