The Sebel Melbourne Kew unveils contemporary new look following multi-million-dollar transformation

Accor

The Sebel Melbourne Kew has undergone a significant transformation following a multi-million-dollar refurbishment, marking a new chapter for the property as it transitions into a contemporary, design-led hotel offering premium apartment-style accommodation.

The transformation delivers an elevated guest experience centred on comfort, flexibility, and a strong sense of place, bringing to life The Sebel's signature 'home away from home' experience. Designed by Mel Porter Design, the interiors draw inspiration from Kew - one of Melbourne's most established suburbs - blending heritage with a refined, contemporary aesthetic.

The new look hotel now features a full lobby upgrade completed, and a comprehensive enhancement of guest rooms and corridors. The works span all key areas of the hotel, including an improved arrival experience, alongside refreshed public spaces. Guest rooms and apartments have been fully reimagined with new furnishings, updated lighting and window treatments, as well as added tech connectivity to meet the needs of modern travellers. Select elements have been retained where appropriate, supporting a considered approach to sustainability while enhancing overall design and functionality.

Dominic Quilligan, Managing Director of Regional Accommodation Group, said: “The transformation of The Sebel Melbourne Kew marks an exciting new chapter for Regional Accommodation Group. Our aim was to create a contemporary, comfortable environment where guests can relax, work and feel at home. We've taken care to ensure the refurbishment not only aligns with The Sebel and Accor brand standards but also reflects the unique character of Kew. The result is a hotel that delivers a premium guest experience while remaining authentic to its local surroundings.”

Adrian Williams, Chief Operating Officer for Accor in the Pacific region added, “The Sebel Melbourne Kew is a strong example of how we're continuing to strengthen our premium network across key urban markets. In Melbourne, we're seeing growing demand for quality accommodation beyond the CBD, with well-connected suburbs like Kew offering great options for both business and leisure travellers.”

Located in a quiet, leafy pocket of Kew, the hotel offers convenient access to Melbourne's CBD via direct tram links, as well as proximity to the Melbourne Cricket Ground and major event precincts. Guests are also within easy reach of local cafés, restaurants, and amenities, making the property well suited to business, leisure and extended stays.

The relaunch of The Sebel Melbourne Kew reinforces Accor's continued focus on premium accommodation across Australia, delivering thoughtfully designed spaces that connect guests to their destination while offering the comfort and flexibility of apartment-style living.
