The Songkran Festival celebrates Thailand's New Year and usually sees three days of vibrant celebrations taking place across the country, including parades, performances, pageants and parties. However, it is the festival's connections to water that are most well-known. Songkran Day officially falls on Saturday 13th April in 2024, although celebrations traditionally take place across the country between 12th-15th April and sometimes even longer. Both The Sarojin and Khao Lak, the resort in which the property is based, will be marking this very special Thai Buddhist Holiday with a series of events for guests to enjoy.

The Sarojin's main celebrations will take place on Friday 12th April and the morning's activities start at 9am in The Sarojin's lush garden beside the main swimming pool, where local monks convene to collect alms and give blessings – a very spiritual experience which is always extremely popular with guests. After this very auspicious occasion, guests will enjoy traditional Thai music, dance and natural art, as well as some fantastic desserts prepared by The Sarojin's highly-respected Executive Chef Gogh.

After the morning's activities, water celebrations, which are symbolic of the Songkran Festival, will take place around The Sarojin's swimming pool and in the evening, from 7pm, guests will be treated to 'The Sarojin's 4 regions of Thai cuisine' gastronomic experience at the property's beachfront Edge restaurant, tasting delicious specialities from all over Thailand. Guests can then sit back and relax as they watch local musicians and dancers perform traditional Thai entertainment.

As well as the celebrations taking place at The Sarojin, guests are advised to visit Khao Lak and The Sarojin's nearest town, Takuapa Old Town, where Songkran is marked with symbolic traditions including morning merit-making, visiting local temples, offering food to the Buddhist monks and pouring water on Buddha statues, a traditional ritual representing purification and the washing away of one's sins and bad luck.
