The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong has long been associated with fine art, and in fact, is home to an extensive collection of art pieces. The hotel's lavishly designed space, decorated with impressive contemporary artworks and statement furniture from internationally renowned and emerging artists, provides the best interpretation of the term “ultra-luxury”. To celebrate art appreciation, in conjunction with the Fine Art Asia Fair opening on October 4, the hotel is partnering with MasterArt Society to present an enchanting evening on October 2, featuring a private art exhibition and a lecture of interest, followed by an elegant dinner prepared by Michelin-starred chef, Pino Lavarra.
Exclusively available on a limited basis to a limited number of couples of The Ritz-Carlton Rewards program, this bespoke event will take place at the Diamond Ballroom of The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. The highlights of the event will be a private exhibition of carefully selected masterpieces brought by MasterArt Society and an art sharing by renowned art connoisseurs, Mr. Floris van der Ven and Ambassador Eduardo Ramos-Gomez. Floris, renowned Asian-art dealer, has 25 years' experience in art and antiques from China and Japan, with an emphasis on Chinese ceramics and works of art. Eduardo is the Managing Partner of Duane Morris's Asian offices in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore, with an international and corporate law practice spanning more than 30 years. The event will be followed by an elegant four-course dinner prepared by Italian Michelin-starred chef, Pino Lavarra, of Tosca restaurant. Two-starred Michelin chef Pino's culinary talents have earned him prestigious global recognition, including “One of the Best Chefs in the World” by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences. Tosca was also honored with one Michelin star only eight months after he took over as director. The menu of the evening will feature his signature dishes, together with wine selections for each course.
Members will also receive exclusive VIP cards, which include access to the Fine Art Asia Fair preview on October 3. Hosting 100 of the world's most renowned galleries, the Fair is recognized in the art world as the most influential annual fine-art fair in the region. Worthy of special note is a monumental Regency sideboard dish constructed of silver gilt presented by Koopman Rare Art, with striking detail in the 17th century manner, depicting the Rape of the Sabine Women within a leaf and berry border, surrounded by a sunken well with finely chased and embossed band in the "Dutch bloom" manner of tulips and roses. The piece is 56.2 cm in diameter; crafted in London in 1814, with the maker's mark of William Pitts.
