The PuLi Hotel and Spa (The PuLi) signaled the arrival of Shanghai's first luxury “urban resort” when it opened in September, 2009. It is managed by Urban Resort Concepts (URC).
With handcrafted luxury at the core of its service philosophy, The PuLi guest experience marks a departure from the expected generic style of luxury usually associated with conventional collections of foremost hotels. The result is a distinctively unique, new and spatial guest experience which heightens discovery and brings delight to the senses.
The PuLi Hotel and Spa is centrally located between the famous NanJing West Road and YanAn Road right at the very heart of Shanghai's business, shopping, sightseeing and entertainment district. It has a prime location in Jing'An district and is directly linked to the Subway Lines 2 and 7. The views take in the greenery of Jing'An Park and the hotel is conveniently connected by a skybridge to the multi-use development 'Park Place', which offers premium office spaces and a luxury retail and dining complex.
The PuLi Hotel and Spa, with 26 floors, 193 rooms and 36 suites offers 24-hour in-room dining as well as 24-hour concierge, laundry and valet services. Room sizes range from 45 sqm to 130 sqm.
In addition to the standard facilities available in 5-star hotels, all rooms are equipped with flat screen LCD television sets, Bose wave music systems, Nespresso machines, personal safes, complimentary wired and wireless broadband internet access, finest 300 thread count linen of imported cotton yarn with sateen finish and ultra-shield foam mattress contouring each bed for individual comfort and a good night's rest.
Every room features separate rainforest shower and toilet cubicles. The bathtubs boast stunning views of Jing'An Park and the skyline of Shanghai and those in the suites are equipped with 15-inch LCD television sets.
Jing'An, the hotel's signature 120-seat restaurant located on Level 2, also boasts impressive views across the park. The PuLi's acclaimed Executive Chef Michael Wilson presents a seasonal and changing international menu with subtle elements of Asian influence. One of Australia's leading chefs, Wilson was formerly at Cutler and Co., the Melbourne dining institution. Wilson is set to deliver old favourites in brand new guises, placing an emphasis on using more local ingredients and fusing tastes from East and West.
For breakfast, guests can choose from four options – an a la carte or buffet selection at Jing'An, a continental express breakfast at Long Bar, a comfortable in-room breakfast or "breakfast on-the-go". Our breakfasts are prepared with a strong emphasis on artisan and homegrown produce. At lunch, guests may enjoy a prix-fix lunch menu, featuring seasonal locally sourced ingredients. Dinner service offers guests an intimate space to unwind. An extensive wine list complements a menu showcasing Chef Michael Wilson's best creations. The Sunday Brunch features a spectacular array of buffet style hot and cold dishes, as well as a fine selection of Western and Chinese dishes cooked to order from our a la carte menu.
A 32-metre Long Bar offers one of Shanghai's “longest” wine and champagne by-the-glass selections. The bar and lounge creates a chameleon-like atmosphere as the space transforms in character and mood through the day.
A superbly equipped state-of-the-art Technogym Health Club, sauna, steam room, experiential showers, jacuzzi pool, 25-metre lap infinity pool as well as the first Anantara spa in Shanghai, operated by the award-winning spa group are available to guests on Level 3. True to the hotel's desire to maintain a sense of place in its product, the spa's treatments reflect a sense of culture and character to the destination. Five treatment suites are available for individuals or couples.
With different venues to choose from, guest can experience handcrafted service from tailor-made menus to programming assistance. The Level 1 Garden Terrace, Level 2 Jing'An Private Dining Room, Level 3 Meeting Room, and Level 26 as a multifunctional event space can host exclusive and intimate events and gatherings up to 200 people.
Commenting on the property, Mr. John G. Laing, COO of URC says: “The PuLi Hotel and Spa is truly unique. As Shanghai's first urban resort, and on the back of its strong conceptual principals, the guest experience at the hotel promises to reach out to the great and growing number of guests that want a different, authentic but quintessentially contemporary and luxurious experience during their stay in Shanghai.”
