The Prokofiev Winter Ballet Package At Grand Hotel de Bordeaux & Spa

Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux & Spa

Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux & Spa will once again come together with L'Opéra National de Bordeaux, which will be showing the ballet performance of Romeo & Juliet during the festive season. Between 16 December 2013 and 01 January 2014, guests can book the 'Prokofiev Winter Ballet' package to include tickets and backstage access to the Bordeaux Opera House and 'Romeo' and 'Juliet' ballet-themed cocktails. In conjunction with this, the hotel is to become a showcase with a 4.5m Christmas tree decorated with theatrical costumes, and will exhibit photography of ballet and opera scenes by the French photographer, Gérard Uféras.

An ode to the art and décor of ballet, the 'Prokofiev Winter Ballet' package at Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux & Spa will allow guests to delve into the world of Shakespeare, including:

-       Double room accommodation for two including daily breakfast at 'The Bordeaux', the hotel's 19th-century Belle-Epoque brasserie

-       Two tickets to a performance of Romeo & Juliet at the Bordeaux Opera House subject to availability

-       Behind-the-scenes tour of the Bordeaux Opera House available on request

-       'Romeo' or 'Juliet' ballet-themed cocktails at the Victor Bar

Guilio Achilli, who has been the Bordeaux Opera House's Production Consultant and Artistic Designer since 1996, will dress a 4.5m Christmas Tree in opera costumes with a dual colour theme of red and gold, and embellished with lace and crystals. Echoing the hotel's baroque interior style (designed by Jacques Garcia), this dramatic centrepiece will be unveiled on 29 November 2013 and will set the scene from the moment guests and local Bordelais clients step inside the lobby.

For an aperitif, Head Barman Sébastien Grosse will create a selection of ballet-themed cocktails, using Romeo & Juliet as inspiration, for visitors to enjoy in the Victor Bar throughout the festive period. Adult guests can choose to savour either the whisky-based 'Romeo' cocktail or the Champagne-based 'Juliet' cocktail.

From 29 November to 6 December, guests will also have the unique chance to admire an exceptional exhibition of ballet and opera photography by acclaimed French photographer, Gerard Uféras, whose work has previously appeared at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. His photography will be displayed in the public areas of the hotel and will once again demonstrate the hotel's ongoing commitment to the world of art and culture.

L'Opéra National de Bordeaux and Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux & Spa were both designed and built on La Place de La Comédie square by the acclaimed architect Victor Louis in the 18th century. The relationship between these two institutions started with an artistic and musical programme, launched in 2011. Today this geographical and cultural heritage brings them together again for this 'Prokofiev Winter Ballet' theme.

The 'Prokofiev Winter Ballet' package at Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux & Spa starts from €457 (approx. £384), excluding city taxes, and available from 16 December 2013 until 01 January 2014, welcoming guests for Christmas, New Year's Eve and festive weekend breaks in Bordeaux.
