Los Angeles is known for many things: the glitz and glam of Hollywood, shopping in Beverly Hills and of course being home to some of our favourite celebs. However, L.A. is not only a haven for the stars – the city is also great for dog owners who enjoy bringing their furry friends with them wherever they go. Here is our dog-owner's guide to L.A:
- The California Science Center (CSC) in Los Angeles has announced an exhibition that is set to be the first of its kind. Dogs! A Science Tail is a hands-on science exhibition that highlights the dynamic nature of the bond between humans and dogs, and enables guests to experience the extraordinary way that dogs see, hear, and smell the world - cool, right? This highly interactive exhibition launches on March 16, 2019 and invites guests to come along and enjoy the live demonstrations of dogs in various roles, showing rescue, agility, sensory and service skills.
- LAX: Unlike many airports around the world, Los Angeles Word Airports prides itself in being completely dog friendly. For those traveling with a canine companion, LAX features 11 Pet Relief Areas throughout the airport - eight are located indoors/post-security, and three are outdoors/pre-security. Amenities for pets include water, animal houses, and bags for waste disposal. If you aren't travelling with your own furry friend, you can interact with the many therapy dogs that roam around the departures levels of each terminal as part of the PUPs (Pets Unstressing Passengers) programme. - Loews Hollywood Hotel: At Loews Hollywood, our furry friends are treated like VIPs (Very Important Pets), providing amenities that include a special pet room-service menu, a welcome letter from the general manager along with a list of local pet services, pet toys, bedding and more. What's more, pets can enjoy specialised bedding, leashes and even collars whilst their owners are provided with helpful amenities such as dog-walking route maps, pet placemats, water bowls, treats, doggie pick-up bags and more. Not to mention the dog walking and dog sitting services. High res imageshere
- Runyon Canyon: Runyon Canyon is very popular amongst the celebs. For many, it's a great way of getting their cardio in whilst enjoying the great outdoors. The same goes for dog owners – the park spans 160 acres and even has an off leash 'Dog Park', spanning 90 acres for dogs to run wild and free. High res images here
- Ace Hotel: The folks at the Ace Hotel love welcoming owners and their dogs to stay and enjoy their time lounging by the pool and relaxing. The hotel is located in the trendy Downtown area, so there's lots to see and do, as well as many pet-friendly restaurants in the area! High res images here
- Leo Carrillo State Beach With about 75 miles of beach spreading from Malibu to Long Beach, it would be a crime not to take a trip to the coast whilst in L.A. Whilst not all of these beaches are dog friendly, Leo Carrillo State Beach is a haven for dogs and their owners.
- Original Farmer's Market If you're interested in treating your fur baby to some doggy donuts or doggy cupcakes, the Original Farmer's Market is the place to go. Visit their bakery for dogs for the ultimate dog treats and who knows, you might even spot a celeb in the area! High res images here
- Angel City Brewery The Angel City Brewery welcomes well behaved dogs and their owners to enjoy a few drinks and have a great time. Located in the Arts District, the brewery is easily accessible and only a 15 minute walk away from Union Station...did someone say walkies?! High res images here.
