Note to editors:
Verbier: A classic Swiss resort, the choice of so many keen skiers and even royalty, has it all. Despite the expert skiing on offer, lively après ski and luxurious surroundings it is the lesser known areas and aspects of Verbier that ensure this resort is one of the best. The Bruson ski area, the eco accommodation, the smaller villages of the area all add to the famous main resort centre.
In the summer, Verbier has something to offer every kind of mountain biker; in fact, you can try out every discipline of mountain biking, all in the very same day. From meandering cross country to fast adrenalin-pumping downhill to epic enduro and even dirt jumping, Verbier has it all. Few locations have such broad scale of options and all offering participants the best quality trails, jumps and heart-pounding good times. www.en.verbier.ch/
What is an E-bike: An E-bike looks like a regular bicycle but has an electric motor which can be used on-demand by the rider to make pedalling easier. A battery is mounted on the frame above the pedals which powers the bike's motor. The battery can be removed to charge with most taking around two hours to reach full capacity. E-bikes come as mountain bikes, road bikes and hybrids; the appeal of being able to travel faster with less effort is not unique to any one denomination of the sport. New for this year, the Verbier E-bike festival is the largest E-bike trial day in the world. 30 of the industry's leading brands will offer a huge variety of E-bikes to trial boasting the latest technology, new designs yet to hit the market and catering to all levels of rider.
Why: As the calls for environmentally sustainable practices grow ever louder, alternatives to fossil fuel burning transport become more popular. The E-bike is one of those alternatives. The ability to travel using the bike's electric motor allows riders to tackle more challenging terrain with ease. This makes the prospect of using a bike for the commute or a weekly food shop more appealing; reducing the physical effort as well as travel time.
