The new Kempinski Hotel Ishtar, sublimely situated on the banks of the Dead Sea has recently appointed Duncan O�Rourke as General Manager to head up the opening team for the hotel. Duncan was born in Ireland and spent most of his childhood in South Africa. In 1988 he graduated from the Institute Hotelier �C�sar Ritz� in Brig, Switzerland, after completing his International Hotel Management studies. He started his career in Switzerland with Renaissance Hotels, specialising in Food and Beverage and has since lived and worked in several countries including Saudi Arabia, Russia, The United States of America, United Kingdom, Greece and Jordan where he has enjoyed learning the local tongue and is now fluent in five languages!

Duncan has been with Kempinski for the past five years but has previously held various different positions throughout his career with Renaissance Hotels, The Marco Polo Hotel Group and Rosewood Hotels.

Duncan has been part of the opening team for 6 hotels, 3 of which his position was General Manager.
