The Merchant Hotel Goes Veggie For National Vegetarian Week

The Merchant Hotel

National Vegetarian Week, a ground swell of interest in modifying your diet for improved health and a wealth of truly stunning seasonal produce have inspired the award-winning chefs from The Merchant Hotel, Belfast to create a mouth-watering seven course vegetarian tasting menu.

As National Vegetarian Week gets into full swing, The Merchant’s Great Room Restaurant is offering a special vegetarian tasting menu with a sensational array of dishes, created using the local produce.  Veggie diners will be spoilt for choice, with delights such as a pistachio and four bean terrine with smoked red onion compote; a Millefeuille of spiced cauliflower with spring vegetables, soft egg, confit tomato almond dust; and an Agnolotti of butternut squash, sweet peas, pinenut and smoked Gubbeen mousse.

Petra Wolsey, marketing director of The Merchant Hotel is vegetarian; commenting on the launch of the vegetarian tasting menu, she said:

“I am thrilled that we have such a carefully conceived, well-balanced, not to mention delicious vegetarian tasting menu available for National Vegetarian Week. In truth I have a vested personal interest having been a vegetarian since the age of five. Sometimes it feels like veggies play second fiddle in gastronomic terms but not in this instance. I think any cynics out there should give it a go and will find themselves very pleasantly surprised!”

National Vegetarian Week runs 20th-26th May. The Merchant’s seven course vegetarian menu is available until Sunday 26th May, priced at £45 per person, or £65 per person with carefully matched wines. The full menu can be viewed online: http://tinyurl.com/kxuuzeg
