The GEC PR team, on behalf of Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC), spent an informative afternoon on 26th September at the Merchant Hotel in Belfast meeting with premium travel agents at TTG Luxpo to update the Irish travel industry on the new luxury product offerings taking place across the destination.
During one-to-one meetings with premium travel professionals from the Irish market, the event provided an opportunity and forum for MMPRC representatives to showcase the new luxury tourism products in the Maldives. The meetings included discussions on the opening of the ground-breaking multi-island Crossroads project which will be the largest integrated resort in the Indian Ocean, as well as developments at Velana International Airport which will provide capacity for the terminal to cater for over 7.5 million passengers.
Additional exciting news shared with the industry included the continuous expansion of luxury hotel product in the Maldives with the opening of international brands such as Waldorf Astoria Maldives, Lux* North Male Atoll and Hard Rock Hotel Maldives this year alone.
Visitor figures to the Maldives have also continued to grow with the destination welcoming an impressive 11.1% increase in UK visitors from January – July in 2019, when compared to the same period in 2018.

Launched in 2015, Luxpo is the UK's only dedicated, multi-sector luxury-focused event for travel agents, providing an opportunity for the luxury travel community to learn and network in some of the country's finest hotels.
