May 2026: Luxury travellers are no longer leaving their routines at home. Across Bali, Koh Samui and Hokkaido, The Luxe Nomad is seeing growing demand for fitcation-ready villas and chalets that support active lifestyles through private gyms, wellness facilities and sports amenities designed for both performance and recovery.
As adventure tourism continues to grow at 16.8% annually through 2030, travellers are increasingly planning holidays around sports and movement, driving the demand for luxury stays designed for travellers who train, recover and explore in Asia's most sought-after destinations.
In line with this, Skift’s 2025 Travel Trends report revealed that 86% of travellers say active and immersive experiences such as sports, entertainment, and culture are important to their wellbeing. The shift comes alongside the rapid global rise of HYROX, which witnessed more than 550,000 participants across its races in 2025, and padel, now played by more than 35 million people worldwide.
Bali: Where Padel, Pilates and HYROX Meet Wellness Culture
Bali has long been synonymous with wellness travel, but the island’s fitness culture has evolved far beyond yoga retreats and surf camps. Today, destinations such as Canggu and Uluwatu have become global hubs for social wellness, where padel clubs, reformer Pilates studios, HYROX training clubs, and recovery spaces sit alongside beach clubs and cafés.
In Uluwatu, Cloud Nine Ungasan is a hillside wellness villa with a sauna, ice bath, yoga deck and hot tub — just a 5-minute drive from HYROX conditioning at Raw Gym Uluwatu. In Ubud, ancient healing meets modern design at Villa Crystal Castle, where 10,000kg of imported crystals, a yoga shala, and a rose quartz reflexology path invite guests to a spiritual reset — with reformer classes at Pilates and Ubud and Movement Matters Bali both just a short ride away. In Sanur, padel meets recovery at Manu Villas, a twin-villa estate where in-villa gym gear and an ice bath cool you down just 3 minutes from the area's best courts such as Sanur Padel & Social Club and Simply Sanur.
Koh Samui: Muay Thai, Padel and Performance Villas by the Sea
As performance culture also becomes mainstream, more travellers are choosing holidays that allow them to continue training while away. The rise of HYROX, hybrid fitness, and endurance-led wellness has created growing demand for destinations that combine structured movement with luxury hospitality and recovery.
Muay Thai lands at Praana Residence's private boxing ring. Technogym-led training and a Sunlighten sauna await at Kelapa House — the perfect reset after a class at Isla Reformer Pilates, just a 10-minute drive up Chaweng's coast. For padel lovers, L2 Residence sits 15 minutes from padel courts like Padel Paradise Lamai, with an outdoor deck built for sunset stretching after a good rally. In Koh Samui, balance high-performance routines with real in-villa downtime.
Hokkaido: Alpine Golf, Onsen Recovery and Longevity Holidays
In Japan, the fitcation trend is taking on a slower and more restorative form. Across Niseko, Furano and Rusutsu, travellers are embracing active holidays centred around golf, hiking, cycling, skiing, and onsen baths that prioritise longevity and balance.
As green season tourism in Hokkaido continues to grow, golf travel is becoming popular among luxury travellers with golf tourism, currently a USD$27 billion market in 2025, projected to reach USD 60 billion by 2033.
The Luxe Nomad's Stay & Play package at The Vale Rusutsu pairs alpine golf with recovery-focused stays. One of Hokkaido's top resort courses unfolds in forest-lined fairways framed by Mount Yotei. After the 18th hole comes Kotobuki Onsen, seasonal Hokkaido produce, and quiet alpine evenings. For something more elevated, The 19th Floor delivers a penthouse above the fairways with a butler handling tee times, transfers, dining, and aperitifs.
In Niseko, Tsubasa at Hanaridge takes the private-chalet route — no shared resort traffic, no fellow guests, just 530sqm reserved for one group. The five-bedroom chalet — Japan's Best Ski Chalet 2024 — sits 5 minutes from Hanazono Golf Course, with 40sqm of private natural onsen (indoor and outdoor) for soaking off the back nine under Mount Yotei views. A chauffeured car, year-round fitness room, and dedicated butler round out the alpine reset.
