(Hong Kong – July 2014)The Langham, Hong Kong received a prestigious accolade from the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) with a Silver award at the 2014 Total Quality Management Award held last Friday (25 July, 2014).
“We are truly honoured to receive this award,” said Managing Director Bob van den Oord of The Langham, Hong Kong. “The HKMA Quality Award stands as a symbol of prestige and excellence, and it is the highest distinction to recognize quality management in Hong Kong.”

Launched in 1991, the HKMA Quality Award is based on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in the United States. Companies are assessed across seven criteria, including Leadership; Strategic Planning; Customer Focus; Workforce Focus; Operation Focus; Results; Measurement, Analysis and Knowledge Management.
During the award ceremony, 2014 HKMA Quality Award Organizing Committee Chairman and Deputy Chairman, James Thompson GBS, of The Hong Kong Management Association stated that “more and more Hong Kong companies are now aware that the desire for success must be accompanied by the quest for excellence.” Chairman Professor Matthew Yuen of the Board of Examiners further added that the Examiners were very pleased to note that, “all the four finalists have achieved high standard and the competition amongst them has been very keen.”

The Association introduced the annual Quality Award in 1991 to give recognition to those companies in Hong Kong which have made a lasting commitment to quality and also to provide an opportunity for companies to share with one another their experience in Total Quality Management.
