(Hong Kong, March 2011) On Saturday, 26 March, 2011, The Langham, Hong Kong will join the city to participate in Earth Hour 2011.
Earth Hour is an environmental movement initiated by WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to raise global awareness about climate change.
This year The Langham, Hong Kong will be taking their support a little further. On Saturday, March 26, from 8:30pm the full hotel lobby will be candlelit, along with all public spaces at the front of the hotel. At the back of the house, The Langham will not be replacing any guest room linen (unless requested) and all the main kitchens in the hotel will be cooking with lower voltage lights, and limiting their use of gas and electricity during service. These few simple energy saving initiatives offers the equivalent reduction in CO2 emission as planting two trees. The hotel is also encouraging guests to turn off their TVs and all in-room lighting when they are not using it.
For those who wish to come along and see the hotel in its candlelit glory, Main St. Deli, The Bostonian and L'Eclipse, will have their usual à la carte menus on offer and each restaurant will also be fully candlelit for the entire evening, in further support of Earth Hour, Palm Court will also be serving four types of organic cocktails from 8pm to 10pm, and is offering a special buy one get one free discount to guests.
