“We couldn’t be more pleased to be included in this august company of historic hotels,” says Philip Wood, General Manager of The Jefferson, DC.  “Not only is The Jefferson a splendid example of historic architecture, exquisitely renovated, but given our location just up the block from The White House, we are used to a certain amount of presidential history, as well.  Being associated with The National Trust for Historic Preservation makes us very proud, indeed.”

The Jefferson made its debut in 1923 as the Jefferson Apartment, a luxury residential building. In 1955, it was converted to a hotel, and has remained one of DC's most prestigious establishments ever since. It underwent a top to bottom renovation in 2009.  The owners of the Jefferson, DC have gone to great lengths to incorporate aspects of Thomas Jefferson's life that are less known than his accomplishments as a statesman and author. The custom toile of the draperies in the rooms depicts scenes from Monticello and the University of Virginia. Find respite in the cozy bookroom and its impressive collection of vintage hardcovers (Writings of Thomas Paine, the Age of Voltaire, Encyclopedia Americana) and a collection of signed editions by present day authors who have been among the hotel’s resident guests.

This 96 suite and guestroom luxury boutique hotel, located at 16th and M, boasts an exclusive selection of spacious suites that entices patrons to extend their visit, from business to leisure, and not one or two but three to four days at a time.    The restaurant Plume, with too many accolades to mention, has set the bar for fine dining in Washington DC, and its noted lounge, Quill, is the gathering spot for the who’s who of the Nation’s Capital. Throughout the hotel, the owners reveal aspects of Thomas Jefferson's life.  Rich in historical details, this Washington, DC boutique hotel is both European and Washingtonian in style with inspirations from its namesake. Adorning the walls are original maps showing areas of Jefferson’s journeys throughout Europe and the United States as well as original, signed documents by the Founding Father himself.  The Cellar Room, is a private dining area that is encased in floor to ceiling wine shelves, holding rare and boutique wines that is a window into a select portion of the hotel's 1,000-bottle collection.
