The Hot List: Where to Travel in 2019

International Traveller Magazine

Best-selling outbound travel magazine International Traveller has now revealed the top destinations that need to be on your radar in 2019.

Macedonia, Colombia and Detroit were some of the locations to make the list, alongside Turkey which is now seeing a return of visitors after a tumultuous few years.

“Picking the next big places that people should visit is always a great exercise,” says editorial director Leigh-Ann Pow. “This year we have pinpointed destinations like the Japanese island of Kyushu, which is just stunning and will play a role in the Rugby World Cup next year; the Norwegian capital of Oslo, the European Green Capital in 2019; and the perennial favourite Fiji, which is definitely worth revisiting with the opening of new resorts that are redefining the holiday experience there.”

Also in this year's coveted summer issue, the Cook Islands, Bali and Puglia keep the sun front-and centre. For those who prefer their Christmas white, we explore the fairy-tale city of Salzburg, 200 years after the ultimate Christmas carol – Silent Night – was first performed there.

Plus:

• Five reasons to love Ludlow, Britain
• Tracing Australian footsteps in Belgium and France 100 years after the war
• Old meets new in Azerbaijan
• What it's like to take a working holiday in Canada
• Exploring the USA through its First Nation cultures, in a respectful and rewarding way

Anonymous hotel and restaurant reviews:

• Raweekanlaya Wellness Resort, Bangkok
• Hotel Providence, Paris
• Salvation Taco, New York City

The International Traveller Summer Issue 35 goes on sale 6 December 2018.
